Writing versus painting

I’ve been wondering how I could combine my love of writing with my hobby of painting.

Could I perhaps draw and paint my own covers?  The answer to that has to be no. People are not my strong point.

Could I then take one of my paintings, a woodland scene for instance, and weave a story around that? It’s a possibility, a maybe, but it would be very limiting.

I like painting flowers – but apart from the obvious of giving of them as a romantic gesture, I can’t see a story in them – unless my heroine owned a flower shop.

But I did paint a canal scene in Amsterdam once with all the lovely buildings in the background – now there’s a thought!

What do you think?  Have you any suggestions?
