My first book….Destiny Paradise

I’ve just been re-reading my very first book – Destiny Paradise – published way back in the 70’s.  (I’m going to be giving this away free with my next one – my 80th) I actually couldn’t remember very much of it so it was like reading a completely new book. My writing style has obviously changed over the years as I’ve learned and grown but I could still “hear” my voice.

Not only has my style of writing changed but also the way that I do it.  In those early days I used a manual typewriter – jolly hard work – it meant that after I had finished writing I then had to type it out all over again to send to my publisher. And if I made a mistake that couldn’t neatly be altered the whole page had to be re-typed.

Over the years I’ve gone from a manual typewriter to an electric one, to a word processor, and finally a computer.  Though in the early days they were nowhere nearly as good as they are today – and there was no World Wide Web. My research was all done from books from the library.

I can’t help but wonder what things will be like in another thirty years time.

What do you think?
