I’m sorry I didn’t blog last week – I was away on holiday in Cornwall. I just love that county. Perhaps because it’s where we spent our honeymoon . Or perhaps it’s because we went there every year for thirteen years when the children were young. We had a caravanette in those days – the poor man’s version of today’s Winnebago. There was no toilet and very basic facilities. But what fun we had.

So this year DH and I spent a half day on Bodmin Moor just so that we could reminisce. We used to visit Jamaica Inn – the one where Daphne Du Maurier set her book of that same name – every time we went on the moors. I could imagine the story playing out in the setting and the rooms, but over the years it has become commercialised and is no longer the same. It is such a pity.

I’ve come back raring to start writing again – though so far the garden is winning. Where have all the weeds come from? And typically the weather is far better now than it was last week.
