Margaret Mayo, Romance Author

This morning I met the man I am going to marry…

Already I can hear you thinking, what is Margaret talking about? I thought she was already married. It’s true, I am. These are the first words in a Sidney Sheldon novel – an old book – probably one of the first of his I ever read and at the moment I’m re-reading it again. But upon reading those words I thought what an excellent beginning they would make for a romantic novel. Not that I intend using them but it got me wondering what sort of things trigger inspiration.

Does anyone care to share?

LOL I’ll admit I was confused at first 🙂 I think it’s a great way to start a romance novel too. I’m a big fan of first lines, especially those that are from left field. A lot of my inspiration comes from the news of all things. Or perhaps that’s not so surprising considering the crazy world we live in 🙂

Guess you aren’t going to start a romance with, “It was a cold and stormy night,” right?
