Thought of the day

A bus station is where a bus stops. A train station is where a train stops. On my desk, I have a work station……

Waste paper

For the moment my writing has come to a full stop. I blame it on my grandchildren and school summer holidays. Plus a very necessary blitz on my office files. I now have slim files and piles of paperwork to dispose of. I used to shred but our council will not now take shredded paper. They say it blows away when the binmen empty it into their trucks.
Go figure!
So when I finally get down to it (it’s sitting on my office floor at the moment) it will mean a trip to the tip. Or should I be politically correct and say recycling depot?
What do you do with all your waste paper?
Do you recall (or perhaps you’re not as old as me) when computers became popular they said we would soon be a paperless society? What a mistaken notion that was. We seem to create more paperwork than ever. Printing stuff out – just in case – and then possibly never looking at it again.
OK, enough said about paper wastage. I’ll get down off my bandwagon.
Enjoy your weekend.

Heroes

DH & I watched the film AUSTRALIA last night on TV. I saw it at the cinema when it first came out some years ago but I was still as enthralled now as I was then. Two great actors – Nicole Kidman and Hugh Jackman – both heroine and hero material. Especially Jackman. I know of so many authors who have used him as a role model in their books. I never have actually – but I’m thinking that day will come.
I didn’t like him with a beard in this film (and I’m not biased against beards – a very good friend of mine who is now no longer with us had a beard and it really suited him ) but when he was clean-shaven at the end. Wow! It was a good romance as well – we knew all along that it would have that happy ever after but it was the getting there that made the story. Exactly the same as in HM&B books.

Inspiration

This morning I met the man I am going to marry…

Already I can hear you thinking, what is Margaret talking about? I thought she was already married. It’s true, I am. These are the first words in a Sidney Sheldon novel – an old book – probably one of the first of his I ever read and at the moment I’m re-reading it again. But upon reading those words I thought what an excellent beginning they would make for a romantic novel. Not that I intend using them but it got me wondering what sort of things trigger inspiration.

Does anyone care to share?

Painting

I can’t believe we’re at the end of the week already. How time flies when you’re having fun. I’ve been painting instead of writing. Painting two old fashioned milk urns for my daughter and her partner with pictures of traditional castles and roses. I’ve had them for about a year and only just got around to it. I thought you might like to take a peep.
