Disaster has struck.

I’ve been dieting since April because I’m going to a wedding in a couple of week’s time and I’ve bought a very close-fitting dress for the occasion. I even bought new scales when I started to diet and have been losing about a pound a week. Now the scales are refusing to work!

Last week we ate out so many times that I know I must have piled it back on – but I have no way of really knowing. I’m going to take the scales back but I can’t find the receipt. I’m a hoarder where receipts are concerned, I have them dating back to the year dot. But the one I want? Nowhere in sight!

I’ve yet to try on the dress!

Am I a coward? Or very brave?

It's some cruel universal joke on people who keep their receipts that the one you want always seems to go missing.

I bet the new set of scales will give you a lovely surprise and you won't have put on a thing!

Thanks for the vote of confidence, Lacey. Time will tell.
